It’s time to enact some self-care and meet EB CAMFT members by joining us on a hike! This hike has views of the lake as well as a small waterfall on the trail that follows the Grass Valley Creek.

    Trails:
From Clyde Woolridge Staging Area Park Parking Lot: Goldenrod trail, Bass Cove Trail, Columbine trail, Cascade Trail, Jackson Grade Trail.

    Hike:
    Estimated Distance: 3.7 miles.

Allow 2 hours for the hike.
    Difficulty: Easy to intermediate.
This hike has very little elevation (110 meters). It is a short loop. There are a few stream crossings that do involve some degree of balance crossing logs or stones. However the creek is shallow and narrow so the creek crossings are not precarious.

The meet up time will be 9:30am and the hike will begin at 9:45am.

Craig Toonder is coordinating this event.
Please email him at ctoondermft@gmail.com with any questions

For day of hike issues or problems, please call Craig Toonder, MFT at 510-499-7137.

During this 3-hour Law and Ethics presentation CAMFT Staff Attorney, Sara Jasper, will describe key issues to address at the outset of treatment with a particular emphasis on the importance of identifying the patient unit of treatment and setting up reasonable expectations within the patient unit. Ms. Jasper will talk about how this can be achieved through a discussion of patient goals, clarification of professional boundaries and competencies as well as key policies and procedures. Ms. Jasper will cover the No Surprises Act and how to discuss Medicare with patients now that LMFTs (and LPCCs) are Medicare eligible. Finally, Ms. Jasper to discuss additional issues to consider when treating patients with disabilities. The legal and practical information covered will help clinicians comply with their Americans with Disabilities (ADA) responsibilities.

The workshop will also address some of the most complex reporting issues therapists face, including: distinguishing between lawful vs. unlawful corporal punishment, when / whether to report consensual sexual activity with and between minors, and how CANRA’s mandated reporting rules apply to sexting between minors.

    Educational Goals

Participants will come away from the presentation with legal and ethical information about how to effectively communicate and collaborate with patients at the outset of the therapeutic relationship. Participants can use what they learn to create clarity, for themselves and their patients, about the goals of the therapeutic relationship, professional boundaries, competencies and key policies and procedures.
