Course Description:
Do you wonder what CAMFT is doing on our behalf at the State and Federal level? Please join us for lunch, networking, and a presentation by CAMFT's Executive Director, Nabil El-Ghoroury. He will present an update on the current status of state and federal legislation that could impact the practice of Marriage & Family Therapy, as well as regulatory topics from the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Finally, he will discuss resources for legal consultation for legal and ethical practice that CAMFT provides to its members.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn about at least three pending legislation and how Marriage and Family Therapists may be impacted by the bills.
- Identify one resource for legal consultation for therapists.
- Connect with senior staff of CAMFT

- Course meets the qualifications for 1 hour of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
- East Bay Chapter of CAMFT is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (Provider #52488) to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs. East Bay Chapter of CAMFT maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.
About the Speaker:
Nabil El-Ghoroury began as Executive Director of CAMFT in January 2018. He completed his doctorate in clinical psychology from Binghamton University, and practiced for 7 years at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland as a licensed psychologist. Prior to coming to CAMFT, he was an Associate Executive Director for the American Psychological Association, where he served as the director of the graduate student office. Nabil was recognized as an emerging association leader by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) when he was invited into the Diversity Executive Leadership Program (2016-2018 class). He has presented at numerous conferences (in English and in Spanish) on issues such as student development in psychology, professional and legal issues in the use of social media, and health/educational disparities in autism spectrum disorders. Nabil led student delegations on Capitol Hill for 8 years. He recently earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential, a certification that demonstrates wide knowledge of association management skills.

No refunds for cancellations within 5 days of the event or for no-shows or failure to attend due to emergencies. Unused funds cannot be applied to future events. NO EXCEPTIONS! If the event is cancelled for any reason, you will receive a full refund.
